Eulmildae, one of Seoul's top three naengmyeon restaurants, is a beloved traditional eatery that has stood the test of time.
The restaurant's exterior is simple and unpretentious, showcasing its long history with a nostalgic charm. Inside, the atmosphere feels warm and inviting, with an old-school Korean vibe that reflects its deep roots in the neighborhood.
The walls are adorned with vintage photos and memorabilia, adding to the cozy, timeless feeling. Despite its age, Eulmildae maintains a sense of authenticity that makes it a cherished spot for both locals and visitors.

Menu

The menu at Eulmildae features signature dishes like naengmyeon, boiled pork (suyuk), and mung bean pancakes (nokdujeon).
Naengmyeon, a cold noodle dish, may be unfamiliar to foreigners, but as one of Seoul's top three naengmyeon restaurants, it's a must-try.
The tender boiled pork, dipped in soy sauce, offers an exceptional texture and flavor, making it a perfect pairing with soju, though it’s also delicious on its own.
Lastly, the warm mung bean pancakes are a fantastic side dish, complementing the naengmyeon perfectly for a satisfying meal.

Eulmildae's mung bean pancakes (nokdujeon) have a higher ratio of meat than mung beans. The pancakes are packed with generous amounts of meat, to the point where they could almost be called "meat pancakes" rather than mung bean pancakes. The savory flavor of the meat stands out just as much as the mung beans, creating a deliciously rich and hearty dish.
Eulmildae's Pyongyang naengmyeon has a subtle, savory flavor that's comforting and satisfying, no matter the season.
The broth has a delicate, earthy umami taste that's incredibly inviting, and the two perfectly sliced pieces of meat atop the noodles add an extra touch of richness. Before diving into the noodles, I highly recommend taking a sip of the broth from the bowl.
It helps calm the mind and, as you slowly savor it, a gentle aroma rises that leaves you craving more. The noodles are smooth with just the right amount of chew, offering a pleasant texture that breaks cleanly.
Unlike the thinner and more difficult-to-slice Hamheung naengmyeon, these noodles are fine yet resilient, effortlessly sliding down with the fragrant taste of buckwheat.
